Lostwithiel Town Council is deeply saddened to learn of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Council's thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family at this difficult time. The Union Jack is flying at half-mast at the War Memorial in honour of the Duke and the link to Buckingham Palace's online Book of Condolence will be published here when available.

Based on community feedback due to the current Covid figures in Lostwithiel there will be some modifications to the arrangements for Sunday. The Parade will assemble in Fore Street and will march to the War Memorial as planned, however the Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial will be slightly extended to include extra prayers and a hymn (for those wishing to pay their respects in an outdoor setting). Revd Beynon will announce that there will be a Sunday Service in the Church for those that wish to attend but the Parade will not reform and march around to the entrance to the Church.

On the advice of our tree inspector, due to Health & Safety, we have this afternoon closed off the Restormel Road entrance to Second Island Park. The veteran beech tree has a hanging branch and we have asked our contractor to remove this as soon as possible so we can reopen the path.
