Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

Lostwithiel Town Council is delighted to be able to advise that the Lostwithiel Neighbourhood Plan referendum will take place on Thursday 21 February. Cornwall Council delay Library reopening

From 2 Feb 2019 to 10 Feb 2019

Cornwall Council apologises for any inconvenience, however further works need to be completed to enable the Lostwithiel Library to open safely for both staff and customers. Therefore, we plan to reopen the Library on Monday 11 February. We will keep you updated should this change. Declaration of Result of Poll Please find below, the results of the referendum held on Thursday 21 February. The Question asked was: Do you want Cornwall Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Lostwithiel to help it decided planning applications in the neighbourhood area? Number cast in favour of a 'Yes' 537 votes 90.1% Number cast in favour of a 'No' 59 votes 9.8% Electorate 2265 Turnout 26.31% Postal votes issued 317 POstal votes included in the count 171

Beating of the Bounds

From 1 May 2019 to 1 Jul 2019

Lostwithiel Town Council - Beating of the Bounds - Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May 2019 Please join us for the Beating of the Bounds. The distance will be approx. 7 miles each day; the walk is muddy, hilly and there is uneven ground in places. Please make sure you are prepared with appropriate footwear, water, snacks/sandwiches, sun cream etc. Please arrive early to complete your registration form, on Day 1 at Respryn Bridge Car park from 8.15 and on Day 2 at the Cattle Market from 8am. We hope to see you there!

Beating of the Borough Bounds

Many thanks and congratulations to all those who walked Lostwithiel's Beating of the Borough Bounds over the Bank Holiday weekend!! We had wonderful weather and a very enjoyable time. The Council is very grateful to all the landowners on the route who gave their permission to cross their land and to Duchy Nurseries for giving early access to their cafe yesterday for the walkers to have breakfast. The Council has been asked to ask all walkers not to post pictures on social media unless they have the landowners express consent to do so.

Library - Summer Reading Challenge

Just to let you know that the Summer Reading Challenge is up and running in Lostwithiel Library. This year’s theme is Space Chase! Improve your reading skills and confidence plus collect smelly stickers, wrist bands and medals along the way! We hope to see you soon.

Lostwithiel Library - Mini Challenge

Calling all Mini Space Chasers! As part of the Summer Reading Challenge we are also doing the ‘Mini Challenge’ at Lostwithiel Library. This challenge is for pre-schoolers who would like to take part in the challenge (maybe along side their older siblings). Children can read stories with parents and carers and collect stickers along the way. Please pop in to Lostwithiel Library to sign up (it is free!) We are holding a Space themed Creative Workshop on Friday 23 August 2pm – 4pm in Lostwithiel Library. The activity is run by Cornwall Libraries as part of the Summer Reading Challenge and is developed and provided by Creative Storytelling. VE Day Commemorative Events Group

Lostwithiel Town Council is forming a group to arrange commemorative events for the VE Day May Bank Holiday weekend. If you are interested in joining this group please contact Deputy Mayor Ross by email karen.ross@lostwithielcouncillors.org.uk or alternatively please phone the Town Council office on 01208 872323. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday 10 September 2019 at the Royal Oak at 7pm.

Network Rail Works

From 11 Sep 2019 to 11 Oct 2019

Network Rail will be working in Lostwithiel overnight between 11pm and 9am Saturday 14 September to Sunday 15 September to repair a set of points at the level crossing. To carry out this work safely the road will be closed and a diversion route will be in place.

Pendour Park - Now Open Part 1

Lostwithiel Town Council wishes to thank the residents of Pendour Park for their patience whilst the Council has been trying to get the safety issues in the new play area resolved. Following a further visit from the play equipment manufacturer on Monday when the carousel bowl was relocated and some sharp edges removed the Council is very pleased to be able to finally open the play area.

Mayor Tim Hughes has said ‘’We have all been very frustrated with the length of time it has taken to open this new play area. The Town Council was not prepared to compromise on child safety and now after two RoSPA Safety Inspection Reports and further remedial works we are delighted that the young children living at Pendour and in the surrounding area have some lovely new play equipment to enjoy.‘’

Devon & Cornwall Police have asked us to make residents aware that sometime from 08.10.19 to 20.10.19 a BMX Kush2 was stolen from a shed in the area of Alamein Road Saltash If you are offered a bike of this type for sale without the papers please consider taking the serial number and contacting D&C Police on 101 quoting reference CR/095919/19 Homeowners are reminded to ensure items of value kept in sheds and outhouses are kept secure and to have a note of the serial numbers.

Remembrance 2019

From 1 Nov 2019 to 1 Dec 2019

Remembrance 2019 Those involved in the Parade with gather at 10.30 outside the Guildhall on Fore Street (in the Guildhall if raining). The Band and the Parade will start to form at 10.45 and will move off at 10.50. At 11.00, silence will be observed at the War Memorial. The Parade will then process to the Church, where all are invited to participate in the traditional Remembrance Day Service. There will be no further Parade after the Church Service.

Remembrance Sunday 2019

Remembrance Parade - The Guildhall will be open from 10.20am and the Parade Master has asked that everyone intending to be part of the Parade meets in the Guildhall at 10.30am. The Parade Master will start to form up the Parade in Fore Street between 10.40-10.45 and it will start to process to the War Memorial at 10.50am. Please note the meeting time for the groups involved in the Parade is slightly earlier.

Remembrance Thank You

Remembrance Lostwithiel Town Council wishes to thank all the organisations and residents of Lostwithiel who joined us to mark Remembrance Sunday. The event was so incredibly well supported, we were delighted that so many people took part in the Parade and showed their respects at both the War Memorial and Church service.

Christmas Tree

If you haven't done so already, the Christmas Tree Festival is being held at St Bartholomew's Church again this year. There are lots of amazing trees to be seen there, (sponsored and decorated by local organisations).
