The Guildhall is used every month for the meeting of the Council. The Council meets on the first Tuesday of each month (with the exception of January when it is the second Tuesday) in the Guildhall at 7pm. Council meeting are open to the public. There is an agenda item for Question Time when members of the public are able to ask questions. If anyone has a lengthy question it is helpful if it is submitted in writing beforehand in order to have all relevant information to hand at the meeting.

• The Planning Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Guildhall.   The meeting is open to the public.
  
  
• All other committees meet as and when necessary. All meetings are open to the public.
  
  
• The Annual Meeting of the Council takes place in May and is our Mayor Choosing Ceremony. The meeting can take place on any date in May fixed by the Council except in an election year when it must be held between the fourth and fourteenth day after the day of the election.
  
  
• The Annual Parish Meeting takes place in April and is a résumé of events of the past year. The Mayor and each committee chairman gives a report and members of the public are able to ask questions.
  
  
• Church Services - The Civic Service is held in St Bartholomew's Church on the Sunday after the Annual Meeting (Mayor Choosing). The Mayor and Councillors attend the Remembrance Sunday Service in November and the Mayor lays a wreath.
  

SERVICES

• The Town Council is responsible for sweeping the streets in the centre of town and emptying the street litter bins. It is a fineable offence for household rubbish to be placed in street bins and if any evidence is found then the first step is for the Town Council to write to the person responsible. If there is further evidence of an offence then details are sent to Restormel Borough Council for them to deal with the matter and possibly impose a fine.
  
  
• Street Lights - if any street light is not working please give details of its location and the number on the pole to the Town Clerk who will fill in a card and send it to Cornwall County Council.
